Breaking News – the SRA New Accounts Rules are nearly here!
The date has been set, are you and your practice ready to implement the new SRA Accounts Rules in all their glory??
These rules, that started their journey way back in 2017, herald a major change in the way Solicitors’ practices will be run with regard to compliance with the Accounts Rules. The date these new rules will become law was announced recently to be November 25th 2019, so the waiting is now over and your planning needs to start in earnest, if not already appreciably completed.
As you will be aware the rules are fewer in number and also less prescriptive. Importantly, this truly allows legal service providers to choose how they wish to apply such rules within their practice whilst upholding the profession and delivery of such services to the high standard required by the SRA. This allows solicitors to deliver the required legal services in a manner to suit their client’s needs.
There is an expectation that you will still follow certain standards of behaviour but the details of how will be left to the Solicitor rather than a rule book. We are becoming no less self-regulated just that the approach of our regulator will be more on managing expected outcomes rather than dictating the method to do so. It is therefore important to have both knowledge and understanding when applying the new rules to ensure full compliance and a sound knowledge of other legislation these rules are built on.
This half day course is designed to be practical and includes opportunities for questions and discussions. This is to ensure delegates leave with a good understanding of the new rules and an awareness of areas in their firm that may require further work to ensure you are all fully prepared for November 25th 2019.
