Shakespeare Martineau strengthens Midlands teams with newly qualified solicitors

Shakespeare Martineau has welcomed the next generation of legal talent with the appointment of seven newly qualified solicitors across its Midlands offices, following the successful completion of their training contracts with the full-service law firm.

In Nottingham, Afrin Nanavatti has qualified into the employment team, while Rebecca Sault has joined the commercial real estate team.

In Birmingham, Maria Sharpe and Jonah Cooke have qualified into the employment team, Govind Johal and Justin Clegg have joined the restructuring and insolvency team, and Svitlana Harkusha has qualified into the commercial litigation team.

Victoria Tester, managing director at Shakespeare Martineau, said: “We are proud to see our trainees qualify as solicitors and continue their careers with us. Qualification is an important milestone in any legal career, and each of them has demonstrated considerable commitment, ambition and professionalism throughout their training.

“It is fantastic to see seven talented individuals beginning the next chapter of their careers across our Midlands offices. As a firm, we have an important role to play in shaping the future of the legal profession. Afrin, Rebecca, Maria, Jonah, Govind, Justin and Svitlana have each made a valuable contribution to the firm during their training, and we look forward to seeing them build on the strong foundations they have established and make their mark as qualified solicitors.”

Shakespeare Martineau offers multiple routes to legal qualification, including traditional training contracts, SQE graduate apprenticeships, self-funded SQE pathways and CILEx options. The firm assesses candidates based on their potential and suitability for the role rather than solely on academic qualifications.
