BLS Consultation Committee responds to SRA consultation on Professional Indemnity Insurance – cyber cover

The Birmingham Law Society Consultation Committee has responded to the SRA Consultation on Professional Indemnity Insurance – cyber cover

The Chair of the Consultation Committee Jayne Willetts said:

“ The SRA has consulted on clarifications to the Minimum Terms & Conditions for professional indemnity cover so as to highlight what is and what is not covered in the event of a claim arising from a cyber-attack. Consumer and third party losses will continue to be covered but law firm losses will remain outside the terms of the policy. With cyber risks becoming even more prevalent as a result of lockdown home working, the Consultation Committee welcomes the SRA’s initiative in informing both the profession and clients as to the cover provided by the standard PII policy.”
