IMPORTANT CHANGES TO PRIVATE CLIENT RETAINERS COME INTO FORCE FRIDAY 13 JUNE 2014

We would like to bring to your attention some important changes to private client retainers as a result of the Consumer Contract Regulations which will come into force on Friday 13th June 2014.

These will affect contracts entered into by all solicitors who undertake distance selling arrangements and / or who enter into contracts at a client’s place of work or home.

Failure to comply with the new requirements could not only see your firm and personnel held liable for a criminal offence but you may also be unable to recover fees for work which you have done.

This is an important change to terms of business under the Consumer Contracts Regulations and one which Jayne Willetts, a member of Birmingham Law Society, can provide advice on. Jayne can be contacted by email on Jayne@jaynewilletts.co.uk
