Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship

The Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship offers a direct and structured pathway to obtaining recognised practice rights within a chosen area of law. For individuals aged 21 and over, it is currently the only government-funded law apprenticeship that includes practice rights as part of the qualification outcome. On successful completion of the programme and admission through CILEx Regulation, learners achieve Chartered Legal Executive status.

  • 29 months of structured training.
  • Up to 4 additional months to complete the End-Point Assessment.
  • Government-funded route with up to £27,000 available towards training.
  • Non-levy employers contribute no more than £1,350, with the remaining balance government funded.
  • Levy-paying employers can utilise levy funds to cover the full cost.
  • Achieves a Level 6 qualification, equivalent to degree level.

Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria:

  • You must hold one of the following qualifications: Level 3 Law; 2:2 Law, 2:1 Law, or Non-Law Degree: or PGDL/GDL
  • Pathways differentiate based on legal experience bands: 0–2 years, 2–5 years, 5+ years.
