Quilter Cheviot is delighted to invite you to a CPD breakfast exploring how financial planners understand and respond to vulnerability, with a particular focus on low financial capability and its impact on financial decision-making during divorce.
The Financial Conduct Authority, the UK regulator for financial services, recognises capability as one of four drivers of vulnerability. Alongside the Consumer Duty, this shapes how financial planners identify client needs, adapt their approach and consider client outcomes.
During the session, we will share how this works in financial-planning practice and consider, at a high level, how it compares with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) guidance alongside recent Law Society and Resolution insights.
We will then explore its relevance during divorce, when clients may be navigating complex decisions involving the family home, pensions, income and longer-term financial security.
The presentation will be followed by a facilitated discussion, inviting family-law practitioners to share their experiences and consider how this perspective relates to the experiences and challenges they encounter when advising their clients.
