Legal Awards Host

PJ Ellis returns as host of the Birmingham Law Society 2026 Legal Awards

He said “I’m genuinely delighted to be returning as host of the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards in 2026.

Having started my career as a solicitor after studying Law at the University of Birmingham, this event, and space, will always hold a special place for me. The Birmingham Law Society continues to champion excellence, integrity and community within the profession, and it’s a real privilege to help celebrate the people and firms doing outstanding work across our region.

The talent within Birmingham’s legal community is exceptional, and I’m very much looking forward to another brilliant evening recognising it. Bring it on!”

PJ Ellis is a broadcaster, connector, and community leader who has spent the past decade driving positive change across Birmingham and beyond.

Currently a presenter on BBC Radio WM, PJ has become a familiar voice in the Midlands – bringing conversation, authenticity, and heart to everything from local stories to national issues. He’s also the co-founder of Wit+Grit, a podcast and live event series exploring resilience, mindset, and purpose, and the creator of Mommy’s Boy, a powerful mental health initiative and community for men who’ve lost their moms.

A passionate advocate for Birmingham, PJ co-founded the charity LoveBrum in 2014, shining a light on the city’s “hidden gem” projects tackling homelessness, social inequality, youth violence, and education. LoveBrum has since funded over 300 grassroots initiatives and continues to champion community-led change.

He also established the Harry Moseley Charity Ball for a local cancel charity, which raised over £200,000 in its first two years. Across his work in the city, PJ has helped raise over £2 million for charity, earning him a Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister in 2018 and the honour of serving as a Batonbearer for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Today, PJ serves as Chair of the Lord Mayor of Birmingham’s Charity and Ambassador for both Birmingham Dogs Home and Sport 4 Life UK, reflecting his continued commitment to supporting causes that inspire and uplift others.

Beyond his charitable work, PJ has advised and mentored entrepreneurs, helping secure over £1 million in funding for local start-ups, and has contributed to advisory boards including Birmingham Law Society, BPS Leaders, TEDx, and the English Schools Football Association. He has also lectured at Aston University, Birmingham City University, and Warwick Business School.

PJ’s work centres on one thing – helping others to find purpose, perspective, and possibility.
