3PB Become Fastest Grown Chambers in City

The Birmingham centre for 3PB Barristers (3 Paper Buildings) continues to go from strength to strength and is the fastest growing chambers in Birmingham; even despite the challenging conditions presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since 3PB opened in Birmingham in 2016, talented barristers across all areas of law have joined the ranks, taking the current Birmingham-based cohort to 30 counsel. In 2020 and during the first two months of 2021 alone, some nine new barristers have chosen 3PB as their professional home with new recruits including former solicitors and those from in-house public sector roles joining 3PB in the Midlands.

In addition the Birmingham centre acts as the Midlands ‘home’ for many of 3PB’s 200 other barristers who are based at our other centres: London, Bristol, Bournemouth, Oxford and Winchester. These barristers enjoy the high quality work available to them on the Midlands circuits and of course the warm welcome and excellent facilities – including the latest video conferencing technology – that await in our modern and spacious Birmingham office.

Elizabeth McGrath QC and Vanessa Meachin QC, family silks and founding members of the Birmingham centre, said: “We are delighted to see 75 of our barristers ranked in Legal 500 and in particular to see 24 of those barristers ranked for the first time. This shows great strength in depth across chambers and that mix of expertise is reflected in the barristers who are based full-time in Birmingham. It has been especially pleasing to be able to welcome new colleagues to our Birmingham centre despite the challenges presented by Covid-19”.

3PB’s Birmingham barristers play an active role in the legal community in the city being represented on multiple local Court user groups as well as playing key roles in a number of other important organisations such as the Birmingham Law Society, Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Midland Circuit Women’s Forum, and Women in Family Law. 3PB has also remained committed to supporting the charity All Birmingham’s Children (ABC) since 3PB’s Birmingham launch in 2016 with members regularly raising funds and supporting important initiatives alongside the charity.

All Birmingham’s Children is a group of local children, parents and professionals who care and work with local children and young people: who genuinely want to make everyone living and working in Birmingham recognise the importance of working towards making Birmingham the safest and best city in the UK for children and young people to live in and grow up.
