The hunt is on for the best legal talent in the West Midlands with nominations now open for the 2016 Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards.
Firms and individuals from the region’s legal sector are being invited to put themselves forward in one of the 12 award categories, which this year include two new awards for Corporate Team of the Year and In-house Legal Team of the Year.
The annual event is organised by Birmingham Law Society, the largest law society outside London, to recognise and reward the individual and collective achievements of those within the region’s legal community.
The awards include Trainee Solicitor of the Year, Barrister of the Year, Paralegal of the Year, Chartered Legal Executive of the Year, Assistant/Associate Solicitor of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility and Pro bono Lawyer of the Year, Partner of the Year, Law Firm of the Year (sole practitioner – four partners), Law Firm of the Year (5 – 15 partners) and Law Firm of the Year (16 plus partners), plus the two new categories.
Both members and non-members of Birmingham Law Society are eligible to enter. The deadline for nominations is Friday 27 November 2015.
There will also be a special Lifetime Achievement award presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the legal profession during their career.
Mushtaq Khan, president of Birmingham Law Society, said: “Once again it is time for the region’s legal sector to take centre stage as we start the search for the winners of the 2016 Legal Awards.
“We are now accepting nominations in all 12 of the award categories and we need both firms and individuals to get behind the event by putting themselves, a colleague or someone they know forward for an award.
“We have added two new categories this year so we are especially looking for nominees for Corporate Team of the Year and In-house Legal Team of the Year.”
The 2016 Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards will be held at the International Convention Centre on Thursday 21 April. Tickets go on sale later this year.
