Leading law firm Roythornes, which has an office in Birmingham, has achieved the Investors in the Environment Green award for the 12th year in a row – continuing its long-standing commitment to sustainability.
Investors in the Environment (iiE) is an environmental accreditation scheme that helps businesses reduce their environmental impact and operate more efficiently. Each year they independently audit their members against rigorous standards, with the Green award representing the highest level of achievement.
Speaking about the Award, Ann Barrasso, Operations director at Roythornes said:
“We’re delighted and incredibly proud to have achieved the Green Award again – especially as it’s our twelfth year of doing so. As a firm we work a lot with farmers and landowners and as such are very aware of how the issues of climate change and environmental impact are affecting businesses today.”
Roythornes began its sustainability journey more than a decade ago and has since invested significantly in greener ways of working including installing solar panels on offices, introducing staff Electric Vehicle purchase schemes and launching office wide recycling points.
Ann continued:
“We are at the stage now where sustainability is embedded in all the decisions we make – from the technology we use to the community projects we support.
It also strengthens our business. By practicing what we preach we show clients we understand their challenges, and it’s something that increasingly matters to people looking to join the firm.
The firm is committed to encouraging others to start their sustainability journeys. Earlier this year they hosted a Roundtable event with their key suppliers to share best practice and generate ideas for their own businesses. This will be followed up by a wider ‘Sustainability Summit’ later this year which will be open to all businesses.
Ann finished by paying tribute to Roythornes staff:
“This would not have happened without the enthusiasm and dedication of our brilliant people. We have over 300 staff across six offices and they have a genuine commitment to reducing our environmental impact and supporting our clients to do the same.”
