Founded in 1818, Birmingham Law Society is the largest regional society of its kind, representing more than 9000 legal professionals across Birmingham and the Greater Midlands.
Through our core values of community, advocacy and excellence, we are dedicated to connecting, championing and supporting all of our members.
COMMUNITY
Building a strong legal community is at the heart of everything we do at Birmingham Law Society. Through our rich and varied programme of networking events and social activities we enable our members to forge lasting connections, access career-boosting opportunities and share valuable skills.
We are of course also part of a wider community here in the Midlands. As a member of various regional development networks, we work alongside local businesses, higher education institutions and third sector organisations to improve the Midlands region for everyone.
ADVOCACY
Birmingham Law Society provides a collective and powerful voice for the legal community in the Midlands. We use this voice to protect and promote the professional interests of our members on a regional, national and international scale, lobbying the government and SRA on important issues, responding to consultations and engaging with the media.
We also facilitate access to justice in the region through our support of Birmingham Law Centre and its pro bono services, and encourage equality and fairness by maintaining a membership that reflects the richness and diversity of the Midlands as a whole.
EXCELLENCE
Birmingham Law Society is committed to upholding the status of the Midlands as a world-class centre of legal excellence. Our topical and varied learning programme of CPD-accredited training courses, conferences and other educational events is available to members and non-members alike, and represents excellent value for money.
We also have 12 professional committees that meet regularly to discuss legislation, news and other important issues across all areas of the legal profession, to ensure all our members remain at the forefront of their respective legal sectors.
