The organisation is hoping that 90 lawyers will volunteer for the controlled descent from the 110ft Wesleyan building, Colmore Row, on Saturday 10 March.

A ten-man crime team from St Ives Chambers has already stepped up to the plate, while solicitors from Coley and Tilley, MFG and SGH Martineau have also signed up for the challenge.

Birmingham Law Society president Andrew Lancaster will prove yet again that he has a head for heights, by adding the abseil to the sponsored parachute jump he did last year.

He said: “We want to raise a serious sum of money for Acorns and we are hoping to make this a family event – participants can be aged from 12. If you don’t fancy it yourself, why not buy it as a gift for the people in your life with an aptitude for altitude?”

The entry fee is £10, and all participants must raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship for the charity. For entry details contact Johanna Sahi-Proto at Birmingham Law Society: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
